This visualization of the famous Brubeck song “Take Five” transforms notes and sound into color and sight, allowing the viewer to follow the song along as it plays. Both the frequencies and wavelengths are mapped, demonstrating the inverse relationship of the two (a detail the physical poster elaborates on), and the bar number is noted in the central circle.

As a trumpet player myself, I took great pleasure and pride in making the song come to life in a new way: the colors I’ve chosen correlate warmth to high notes and coolness to low ones, making the hot spots of the song more obvious from afar.
