I revisited my Bike to Work Day branding project recently and expanded it to include this mobile app. As was the focus for the previous project, my aim this time was to appeal to a wide audience and make “Bike to Work Day” fun. The app itself is a visual exercise, with special attention paid to the look and feel; the “business testimonials” page, for example, might not be so prominent in the final version of the app.

Branding and sponsorship I consider an inevitable part of bike to work day, and I feel it’s important to showcase how brands can be treated as lightly and appealingly as the rest of the app experience. Design-wise, I used bright colors and a simple interface to appeal to kids and adults alike. The app would ultimately allow users to log in and plot their course for the big event while staying up-to-date on the latest SFBC news and alerts.
